Insight from the experts Casting Tip: Star vehicle - male

Staging Tip: Outside and inside Graumann's Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Boulevard, a movie mogul's mansion, a sound stage, a vocal coach's office, Don's house, a rainy street. Plus colorful costumes and decorations. A break-away tux jacket, several hysterical on-stage movies, a girl-in-the-cake cake, and of course, the famous rain scene. If you can't actually film your actors for the movie sequences, there's a list of other suggestions in the perusal, from on-stage actors to videotape. Don't be frightened by the rain sequence. Several suggestions are listed in our catalog (page 24) and on our website. Among them are: 1) a self-contained wagon set with a recess for puddles; 2) several quick mirrored balls and a pinspot to simulate rain; 3) a motorized "rain wheel" attachment to the lights; 4) a tapeloop of rain projected onto a scrim; 5) paper or metallic confetti; 6) carefully hidden troughs of water where Don can splash.
