AVE Q Puppets for RENT

The Summer Repertory Theater (SRT) of Santa Rosa Junior College performed AVE Q in the summer of 2012. The show was directed by Johanna Pinzler, musical Director was Alex Wise. Instead of the iconic characters designed by Rick Lyon Studio, the puppets were designed and built By Mary Hildebrand Nagler, MFA University of CT Puppet Arts Program, who has built a number of AVE Q puppets in the employ of Rick Lyon. They are therefore made with the same care for detail and durability. The show was a big hit in the community and the original puppets very well received. There are (18) AVE Q character puppets, (8) singing boxes, and in our version were added, (4) “Auxiliary characters” to spread the puppetry experience to more people in the cast: A UPS guy, a construction worker, a Goth teen and a Monster child. These four, as well as some props, are also available to rent. Please go community Rentals section to see the list of what comes in this set, and thanks for looking in!

Mary Nagler is also available to come for a 3-5 day PUPPET MANIPULATION INTENSIVE at the beginning of your rehearsal process to help your performers get off to a good start. At SRT we did this the first several days of rehearsal and our cast of actors, who had little experience with puppets, found the experience very beneficial. We covered: “Puppet reverence” the do’s and don’ts of puppet care, strength building exercises, eye focus, lip sync, stage presence, posture, stage focus, singing, gesture, characterization , voice manipulation , sub texts, one and two arm rod manipulation , live hand manipulation/partner puppeteering, AND we had fun doing it!
