Bergen County Players kicked off its 2011-12 season with the multiple Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, hailed by The Wall Street Journal as “perfect in every possible way – that rarity of rarities, a super-smart musical that is also a bona fide crowd pleaser.” Featuring a book by Rachel Sheinkin with music and lyrics by William Finn, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was performed under the direction of Larry Landsman at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from September 10th through October 2nd, 2011. The hit musical is about the unlikeliest group of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.
