Description: The Junior Theater Festival is an annual celebration of young people with BIG dreams and the courage it takes to follow them. The Festival coincides with the weekend in which we honor Dr. King’s resilience and tenacity in fighting for his dream of freedom for all Americans. We are thrilled to have you join over 2,000 students and teachers in Dr. King’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia to share your dreams, showcase your talents and support your fellow performers. Dr. King’s message of equality and acceptance is particularly relevant to a musical theatre performance. A musical theatre production draws its strength from diversity. People of all shapes, sizes, colors and abilities each have an important role to play. Having the freedom to be yourself, to take risks and to be accepted for who you are is essential to creating theatre. The DreamBooths – Sharing Your Dreams Dr. King inspired us all to see beyond what exists and believe that our dreams can come true. As part of our tribute to the dream of Dr. King, we have created four DreamBooths - special areas with interactive kiosks where you can record and share your dreams and aspirations with the JTF community. We all have dreams, and now we want you to share your dream with us. Record a 30-second testimonial about one of your dreams. It can be anything at all – a personal dream, a dream for the world, something big, something small, something serious, something fun. Think about what inspires you, what obstacles you are going to overcome or something positive you hope to achieve and let us know. Your videos will be uploaded to MTI ShowSpace - and not only can you create video memories, but everyone also has the chance to take a photo with a cool themed frame. We’ll give you a printed copy of the photo, send it to you via e-mail, and put it up on MTI ShowSpace. Whether you want to travel the world, perform on Broadway, help out in your community, or simply keep your room clean (this might be the most difficult!), setting goals is important, and we want to hear all about yours!
